Who's writing?
... an urbanist, scientist, and researcher writing about architecture, sustainable planning, and future cities.
Hi! Are you as interested in architecture and cities, science and fiction as I am?
In that case, welcome on board!
You’re curious to know how we can imagine a sustainable future? That is what my writing is about.
So, who am I? The answer: Mark Kammerbauer, an architectural researcher and urbanist. I am an author in the field of architectural design, building culture, urban planning and environmental risk. 25 years ago I started working in architecture. 20 years ago I started researching how environmental risk impacts cities across the globe. 15 years ago I started teaching at universities. And five years ago, I founded an agency for services in the architecture and planning publishing business – the Nexialist Agency for Research and Communication, located in the heart of Europe in the Bavarian city of Landshut. In other words, the main topic I work on and write about is cities – spanning architecture, the surrounding environment, and how people bring these spaces and places to life. And I try to imagine how these environments may develop in the future, what stories they tell, what they may sound and look like. This is also what motivates me to write in this blog.
My writing needs you – the readers. And you can share your thoughts on the issues we care about.
In my work, interviews with all kinds of people are of key importance. We can only learn from each other if we communicate. From this point of view, my posts are an invitation – to you. You can simply follow the posts or interact with me, as you like. In any case, I’m curious about your feedback.
What to expect?
There are so very many people writing about so many very important issues that drive our modern lives. In a certain way, we all compete with each other – for your attention. Also, in a certain way, we all complement each other’s work, forming a “big picture”, if you will. From that point of view, I’m adding my perspective to that “big picture” by introducing to you my projects: books, articles, public events, media, and more. I will be doing this on a basis as regular as possible for a freelancer who works with clients to create the projects I present here.
And this is me!
You see me in front of our coworking space, located in the city of Landshut in Bavaria in Germany’s south. So you might ask: “Why are you writing in English and not in German – or Bavarian, for that matter?” I was born and bred in New Jersey and that’s a fact. My German parentage led me back to the old country and that’s a fact, too. And I write in both languages. Occasionally, I draw things and record sounds – a different kind of language that enriches my life.
What’s next?
I’ll post some insights and observations on my most important publications soon. And you can subscribe, too. Be seeing you!
